THE HISTORY OF THE BODY SHOP
Our story began in Brighton, England, in 1976. Back then, The Body Shop founder, Dame Anita Roddick, opened a small green shop with a deep-seated belief in something revolutionary at the time: that business could be a force for good and add value to society and the world.
We have never been an ordinary cosmetics company. For 40 years, we have been passionately fighting and campaigning for a fairer and more beautiful world, empowering people, banning animal testing worldwide, protecting the environment, fighting against climate change, and advocating for the sustainability of the planet. And we continue unabated.
Welcome to The Body Shop.
DISCOVER OUR PURPOSE
The Body Shop exists to fight for a fairer and more beautiful world. This is our purpose and the driving force behind everything we do. Our philosophy and "beliefs" mean everything to us.
We believe that business is a force for good, we believe in empowering women and girls, and we deeply believe that all people are beautiful.
